The difference between the M.S. and MEng programs
The M.S. in Computer Science program will require you to complete a computer science-related project in collaboration with expert Oregon State computer science faculty members. You can complete this project fully online without any in-person requirements. The MEng in Computer Science program will require you to complete the 45 credits of coursework online, with no project requirement.

The Master of Engineering program features innovative coursework that will enable you to gain advanced skills in artificial intelligence, computer architecture, cybersecurity, machine learning and more.
The Master of Science program delivers the same cutting-edge curriculum as the MEng, paired with hands-on work through a project that you’ll design in close collaboration with an OSU faculty member.

Program start dates
MEng in Computer Science
Students are admitted to the MEng program four times per year, and you can begin your studies in the fall, winter, spring or summer. Visit Oregon State's academic calendar for term start dates.
M.S. in Computer Science
Students are admitted to the M.S. in Computer Science in the fall only. Visit Oregon State's academic calendar for term start dates.
Accelerated Master’s Platform
Get a jump-start on your master’s degree while working toward your bachelor’s degree in computer science. Through Oregon State’s Accelerated Master’s Platform, current undergraduate students can take graduate-level courses online that will be applied to their bachelor’s degree.
The credits you earn will be transferred to the computer science master’s degree program. Students enrolled in Oregon State’s online graduate courses will pay the graduate tuition and fees rate.
