Master’s in data analytics admissions information

Admission requirements

  • Graduate or bachelor's degree with a minimum cumulative 3.0 GPA.
  • Successful completion of an upper-division statistics course equivalent to Oregon State's ST 351. The OSU Transfer Course Search Tool allows you to look up previous coursework in order to find out if your class has been identified as an OSU course equivalent. The Ecampus enrollment services team can also help you navigate this tool to find any information that exists for ST 351.
  • Meet the OSU Graduate School's minimum admissions requirements.

When can you start?

New cohorts begin taking classes online for the data analytics master’s program every fall. The deadline to apply each year is April 1.

How to apply

Complete a graduate application using the online application form. All application materials must be received by the April 1 application deadline. The nonrefundable application fee is $75.

Application requirements

  • Transcript(s)
  • Résumé
  • Three letters of recommendation
  • Cover letter – The following questions should be answered in this letter. There should be no more than one paragraph for each question and the entire length of the letter should be no longer than two pages:
    • What is your math background and experience?
    • What experience do you have working with data?
    • What experience do you have with computing and programming (software, coding, etc.)?
    • What do you hope to get out of this program?
    • Describe a time you experienced conflict and how you approached and resolved it.
  • For international students: Official TOEFL scores

Note: GRE or GMAT scores are not required for this master’s program.
